Yorkshire Status: Rare and very local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: There are five recent records for this species. The larval foodplant, traveller's joy, is probably only indigenous south of the Humber (Clapham, Tutin & Moor, 1987) so the new Harrogate district records may be a result of recent introductions to the area.

2012 (CHF): We have scattered records mostly down the centre of the county with recent records from the Ripon area and from Brockadale, both areas where traveller's joy grows. It tends not to stray far from its foodplant. Fairly distinctive if fresh with a reddish band at the base of the abdomen, it can however be confused with Slender and Maple Pugs when worn and may need dissection if at all unsure.

Recorded in 19 (10%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1901.
Last Recorded in 2023.
