The only Yorkshire record of this species is considered to be unreliable, so it is not on our official list. You will see this record quoted in various literature. In MBGBI Vol 9, de Worms states "between 1815 and 1859, two specimens were taken in Berkshire, one in Essex, one in Yorkshire and three in North Wales ... It is doubtful if this species has ever been indigenous to Britain". Skinner says "Wharfedale, Yorkshire c. 1836". Waring in his Field Guide says "four records from the 19th century are possibly genuine. These are from Yorkshire (Wharfedale c. 1836) ...". Sutton and Beaumont says "we are not aware of the source of this record." Porritt was certainly unaware of it as it does not feature in his lists. No further evidence has turned up since then.
