Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: A very local species in the North of England and only doubtfully recorded before 1967 since there were no specimens available for examination. This species was definitely added to the County list in 1967 (YNU, 1970) and has now been found in several localities.

2012 (CHF): Formerly a National BAP species, it has been taken off the list as numbers have grown. It has either become much more common in the county or numbers have been previously underestimated due to little trapping in upland areas of VC65. In parts of upper Swaledale and Wensleydale in can be common in wooded areas, eg 77 at Keld on 24.7.2009 and 71 at Ballowfields/Ox Close on 6.8.2010 though strangely it has never been reported over the border in Lancashire. The north and east of VC62 also holds good populations though not in such big numbers.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 42 (21%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2023.
