Yorkshire Status: Extinct in Yorkshire.

We only have one record of this species. It appears in Porritt's list of 1883 and is from "Scarborough" (ie somewhere in the Scarborough district), attributed to Thomas Wilkinson. This is the most northerly record in the Atlas. It is a moth of damp woodland in the south of England and south Wales, and is not showing any signs of moving north and recolonising Yorkshire.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86) when T. Wilkinson recorded it from Scarborough (VC62). Unlike H. rostralis (Linnaeus), this is still quite widespread in the South of England so it is conceivable that it could reappear in Yorkshire.
