Yorkshire Status: Rather local resident.

This rather local species is rarely seen in large numbers, in fact almost 90% of our records are of single moths. Perhaps it doesn't come strongly to light. It is a moth of the lower ground where red bartsia grows. It was unknown to Porritt and the first county record was not until 1959. It may have lurked in the county undetected before then. Numbers vary a lot from year to year so it is difficult to know quite how it is doing in Yorkshire.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species was only reported from two sites previously (YNU, 1970). It is now known to be more widespread where red bartsia grows.
