Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and fairly widespread resident.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widespread as larvae on sallow, birch and alder, and frequent at light in suitable areas of vice-counties 62-64. Very local in east VC61 where there is little suitable habitat and there is only a single record from Harmby in VC65 (FBS). However it has been recorded in Upper Teesdale, VC66 (Dunn & Parrack, 1986).
2012 (CHF): Common and widespread across most of the county in two overlapping broods. Commonest in broadleaved woodland but also coming into gardens. Recorded in 165 (83%) of 200 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1880. Last Recorded in 2023. |
