Yorkshire Status: Extinct in Yorkshire.
Bordered Gothic seems to be extinct in the UK and only occurs now as a rare migrant. Back in the 19th century, the situation was different. In 1883 Porritt listed sites all across the county, and in 1907 commented "frequently taken, but common in but few localities", so perhaps the rot was already setting in. Records gradually decreased, and the last record we can be certain about is one at Spurn in 1970s. A moth was taken at High Batts NR on 14/8/85 but this seems very late and we have no photo or specimen so this seems unlikely.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: There are few recent records of this primarily southern moth in Yorkshire. Sufficient work has now been done on the Wolds to indicate that it is unlikely to be established there, as was suggested previously (YNU, 1970). The VC62 and VC63 records are unconfirmed. | Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required. | |
