Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local resident.

Second brood: If larva present otherwise unidentifiable.

Beaumont, 2002: VC61. South Cave, 7.7.1994, gen. det. HEB (DBC). NEW COUNTY RECORD.

2013 (CHF): Identifying the oak-feeding Stigmella species (with the exception of basiguttella is fraught with danger and records are not acceptable without breeding out the adult moth. This is a rare species in the county with few records though it might be commoner than the dots on the map suggests. The egg can be laid on either side of the leaf. The mine is a long, slender, not very contorted corridor. In the first part the frass lies in a very narrow line; later the frass may in rare cases lie more widely scattered, but nowhere does it take more than 1/3 of the width of the gallery.

Argus 72, 2014: A species that is difficult to record, either as larval mines or adults. Only recorded from vice-counties 61 & 63.

VC61. Allerthorpe Common, mines 24.10.2014, moth reared and gen. det. (CHF).

VC63. Auckley, mine on oak 6.11.2012, em. 20.5.2013; Ling or High Common, 7.12.2014 (SRS). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 78, 2016:

VC62. Stainton, tenanted mines on oak 8.11.2016 (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

VC65. Norton Conyers, tenanted mines on oak 21.10.2016 (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 84, 2018: Now found in all vice-counties but remains rather local; there is only a single record from VC65.

VC64. Brimham, mines on oak 6.11.2018 (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Mine: Moth needs to be reared and, in some cases, possibly dissected.

Recorded in 29 (15%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1994.
Last Recorded in 2023.
